NYSUT Social Services is now offering free monthly webinars via Zoom, open to all NYSUT members. Social Work continuing education (CE) hours are available free to NYSUT members.

11/20, 1-2:30PM | Steps to Attendance: Understanding and Overcoming School Avoidance (1.5 CE) - REGISTER HERE
This workshop will provide an overview of school avoidance, exploring its various underlying factors, which often include anxiety, depression, social issues, or specific learning challenges and unsafe school climate. Participants will learn to recognize the early warning signs, understand the function that school refusal serves for the student, and explore evidence-based strategies for intervention. Participants will learn how to implement a school attendance policy in an MTSS system and use the School Refusal Assessment Scale (SRAS)

Our next virtual workshop will be a two-part series; attendance is strongly recommended for both sessions to build off prior knowledge and enhance discussion.
