Lorri Austin

Author: NYSUT Communications

Lorri Austin is a 5th grade teacher at Skano Elementary school in the Shenendehowa school district. She always goes above and beyond the call of duty. The passion she has for education is apparent the moment you walk into her classroom. After reading the countless letters from parents, colleagues, students and former students, it's apparent that Lorri is a dedicated professional that has a real zest for her profession – just ask her colleagues and peers, and they're bound to agree.

Lorri has a silent philosophy that every student is special and unique. She is able to connect with every student, even in a class of 30-plus children. This is apparent through the countless accolades Lorri receives from parents and her peers. Lorri and her classes have been featured in local newspapers for many of the projects they have been a part of. She is a sought after teacher the moment children enter Skano Elementary.

Lorri is the teacher that I pray my children would have one day. She is a very humble person and does not expect or want to be recognized for doing the very thing she loves to do, but her story is deserving of such recognition.
