Sign up now for 'Bully' movie, education program

Source: NYSUT United

The 1 Million Kids initiative, launched this spring by The Bully Project, is a unique bullying prevention initiative inspired by the film "Bully." It combines an online professional development component for teachers created by Facing History and Ourselves, with funding for educators and students to see the documentary, provided by DonorsChoose.org.

For information on tickets to the movie, and eligibility — projects must be submitted by full-time public school teachers, must include at least 200 students, and trips must take place before Oct. 31 — visit http://www.donorschoose.org/blog/2012/08/03/training-andtickets.

Need grants? Check out the NEA Foundation blog

The NEA Foundation, an independent, public charity of the National Education Association, one of NYSUT's national affiliates, has awarded more than $8 million in grants to educators and invested millions more in efforts to close the achievement gap.

The foundation blog, www.neafoundation.org/blog, offers several resources to educators, including entries from former grant recipients; Q&As with useful information on applying for grants; written and video instructions on how to complete an application; and application forms. The blog also includes information about the foundation's partnership with DonorsChoose.org. The NEA Foundation will match donations NEA members receive for classroom materials.
