ALBANY, N.Y. June 30, 2023 – New York State United Teachers President Melinda J. Person today released the following statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s devastating decisions this week:
"In the past two days, the Supreme Court majority has once again demonstrated their commitment to the interests of the wealthy and corporations at the expense of the middle-class and underrepresented groups. The rulings on college admissions, student debt and LGBTQ issues show a stunning ignorance of history and a willful disregard for the current struggles that affect so many in our society.
NYSUT and our members will continue to fight for the rights and protections this court has so callously tossed aside."
