Pickets against state Senate Republicans over support for the DeVos agenda, corporate charters

NYSUT members to hold Phillips, Serino, DeFrancisco, O’Mara, Young, Golden and Lanza accountable for supporting Betsy DeVos’ education agenda

Teachers and other educators — joined by parents, students and activists — will set up pickets at the offices of state Senate Republicans Friday to demand they abandon their support of U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ destructive education agenda.  The Senate’s one-house budget bill contains a voucher-like education tax credit and an estimated $350 million in new money for unaccountable and non-transparent charter schools  — funding activists strongly believe should be used to help neighborhood public schools in their own communities.
