Barbara Wisdom
Federation of Nurses/United Federation of Teachers
Barbara Wisdom is a seasoned veteran who champions the union banner. A registered nurse with 26 years of experience, she is UFT vice chapter chair for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, the largest such home care agency in the country. She has mentored new nurses and has served as a "buddy" for both nurses and non-nursing personnel.
Wisdom articulates in a clear and consistent manner the value of our union and our accomplishments. She brings a wealth of knowledge, nursing experience and critical insight into issues, and she is a wonderful liaison with all health care workers represented by the UFT and NYSUT.
A nurse is all that Wisdom ever wanted to be. She considers it a lifelong goal to serve those who have entrusted their care to her hands at the most vulnerable time of their lives.
