In concert with an initiative by the American Federation of Teachers, NYSUT urged its members to wear blue to work on Feb. 10 in support of union efforts to pass the national economic recovery plan currently being considered in Congress.
The effort was part of the AFT's campaign to "Fight for America's Future: It's Dollars and Sense." The goal was to encourage our elected representatives to be "true blue" in support of working families and get the economic recovery package approved.

NYSUT Executive Vice President Alan Lubin asks activists to e-mail photos of your blue-clad colleagues to aftphotos@gmail.com. Photos will be posted on the Fight for America's Future Web site, www.aft.org/fight4america.
Next step: Take action on federal support for education
It's crucial that you take the next step: act now to contact your representatives in Congress and urge them to provide as much funding for education as possible in the final economic recovery bill, including school modernization and state fiscal relief. Tell them to support funding levels closer to the House-passed version.
