1. Establishing and Maintaining Appropriate Professional Boundaries - NYSED approved provider for Social Workers – Participants must take Part 1 and Part 2
Mental health professionals are charged with the legal and ethical responsibility to maintain professional boundaries, but the duty isn’t always so easy to discern. This course brings context to ethical concerns often experienced by professionals in practice in maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Presenters will review common ethical dilemmas and discuss a process to make informed decisions that insulate professionals from legal liability while also protecting clients/students/patients from harm. Overview and discussion of concerns related to HIPAA/FERPA will also be provided.
Target Audience: NYS LMSWs and LCSWs
New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0775

2. Code Red-Staffing Shortages
Code Red is our unions plan to respond to the critical staffing issues occurring in our hospitals. This session will discuss the legislative remedies we have achieved as well as our strategic union response to amplify the need for proper staffing.

We will focus on the tools we have to get help for ourselves and our members, as well as engaging the employer to improve psychological safety in the workplace.

7. Meet the NYS Center for School Health
This presentation will provide an overview of the New York State Center for School Health (NYSCSH), what they do, how they do it, and how to contact them. The learner will be able to access resources and support and get answers to questions to perform their job safely and with best practices.
Target Audience: School Nurses, School Psychologists, School Counselors
Learning Outcome: 85 percent of participants will use the information to access resources to remain current with nursing standards in the school setting. 1.5 CONTACT HOURS
8. Using the Tools We Have to Prevent Workplace Violence
Threats and assaults are a growing problem in healthcare, public services, and school settings. Effective joint labor-management committees are hard work, but they can make the workplace safer. Join us to share your concerns and strategies, whether you work in the public or private sector. While we wait for a federal standard from OSHA, we will use the tools at our disposal to demand which include the PESH workplace violence prevention law for public employees and Joint Commission and CMS requirements for accredited facilities.
