Your Students English Language Arts Core Curriculum is now available Posted: June 7, 2005 Related article: New curricula alert The State Education Department has posted the English Language Arts Core Curriculum on its Web site for grades 3 - 8. You may access the core at www.emsc.nysed.gov/3-8/e-home.htm . While the four English language arts standards have not changed, the revised core provides grade-by-grade delineation of the performance indicators: what students should know, and be able to do, in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, as a result of skilled instruction. An addition to this new core curriculum is a literacy strand, pre-kindergarten through grade 8. The grade 9 to 12 component of the literacy strand will be posted when it becomes available. New York State United Teachers had several representatives from the NYSUT Elementary Education Committee and the NYSUT English Language Arts Committee on the development team.	Look for more updates Throughout the summer, you can access any new materials as they are released by going to NYSUT's Web site at www.nysut.org/standards, where we will link you to materials and provide news updates.
