The New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE) Program is managed for the NYS Education Department by National Evaluation Systems (NES), Inc. The schedule of 2006-07 testing dates has been released by NES for the following certification examinations:

  • Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS)
  • Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST)
  • Elementary Assessment of Teaching Skills—Written (ATS–W)
  • Secondary Assessment of Teaching Skills—Written (ATS–W)
  • Content Specialty Tests (CSTs)
  • Bilingual Education Assessments ( BEAs)
  • Communication and Quantitative Skills Test (CQST)
  • Assessment of Teaching Skills—Performance (ATS–P) (Video)

This Briefing Bulletin is intended to only provide an alert regarding the scheduled dates for testing. Individuals must review the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations 2006-2007 Registration Bulletin for complete information on registration, test availability, and other critical details. The deadline for submission of requests and all necessary documentation for alternative testing arrangements is the regular registration deadline. Because of space, staff, and time constraints, there can be no assurance that requests received after this deadline can be accommodated.


Internet Registration
All registration periods. To register on the Internet, your registration must be completed by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the registration deadline for the period.

U.S. Mail Registration
Regular and late registration periods only. To register by mail during the regular registration period, your registration materials must be postmarked by the regular registration deadline. During the late registration period, your registration materials must be received by the late registration deadline.

Telephone Registration
Emergency registration period only. To register by telephone, call (413) 256-2882, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday–Friday, excluding holidays. You must call by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the emergency registration deadline.
