| Reminder: Middle Level Models B and C applications must abide by collective bargaining agreement December 19, 2005 See also: Draft applications now available for Middle-Level Education Strategy Models B and C. June 2, 2005. If your schools housing grades 6, 7 and 8 or a combination of those grades are applying for regulatory relief under the Models B, C 1 and C 2, please be aware of the following: Language on the cover sheet states that these applications "must not conflict with the collective bargaining agreements." The district Shared Decision Making team must be a part of the application process. The district SDM, to which the bargaining unit appoints members, must review any application for Models B, C 1 or C 2, and submit a letter of agreement or letter of disagreement stating why they disagree. All subjects must be taught by teachers certified in those content areas. The district must show that the standards in areas where regulatory relief is sought are taught by teachers certified in those areas. No standards area may be eliminated. If the application calls for courses to be integrated, the standards area must be taught by a teacher certified in that area. If you are aware of your school making an application but have not been notified by your district SDM representatives or have not been contacted by your administrator regarding any changes in staffing, please notify Elizabeth Sheffer in NYSUT's Research and Educational Services of your concerns. All applications for regulatory relief are due at SED by Friday, January 13, 2006.
