2004-05 Property Tax Report Cards

As required by law, 660 school districts submitted their 2004 Property Tax Report Card information to the New York State Education Department. Twenty school districts have not yet submitted their information. In addition, the Big Five City school districts are not covered by this requirement. The Property Tax Report Card provides key information on district spending and taxes; Charts included in the PDF version of this bulletin show frequency distribution of reported increases in spending and taxes.

SPENDING

School districts reported changes in spending that ranged from a 3.7% decrease - Hermon-Dekalb in St. Lawrence County - to a 28.7% increase - Canisteo in Steuben County. On average, reported spending will increase by 6.3%.

TAXES

School districts reported changes in their tax levy that ranged from a 2.6% decrease - Ellicottville in Cattaraugus County - to a 31.6% increase - Waterloo in Seneca County. The average of the reported changes in taxes is 8.3%.
