Certification Issues

NYSUT offers teacher certification videoconferences throughout the year. Three separate workshops are available to meet our members' diverse needs. All sessions are held at the Western New York Regional Office and are presented free of charge.

Certification Block A is a forty-five minute presentation for teachers holding a provisional certificate. This session is targeted to teachers certified under the pre-February 2004 requirements who are looking for information on the process of obtaining permanent certification.

Block A session: 4:30 p.m.- 5:15 p.m.



Certification Block B is a forty-five minute presentation on the new certification requirements in place since February 2004. Teachers with an initial certificate or those seeking an additional certificate in a new subject area will find this session helpful.

Block B session: 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Teaching Assistant Certification is a forty-five minute session providing an overview of the certification process for teaching assistants under both the old and the new requirements. (Sessions will be scheduled for groups of ten or larger).
