Thursday: Schedule updates and highlights

  • Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno will be attending the opening general session at 8 p.m. Thursday.
  • NYSUT Services and Benefits on Display is open from noon to 7:30 p.m. in Empire Hall North.
  • Delegates: Don't forget to visit Raffle Central located outside the Empire Hall on the second floor of the Convention Center. Funds raised will go to NYSUT's hurricane relief efforts.
  • The Journalism Awards Dinner and Meet the Editors' Roundtable is 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hyatt in room Grand D.
  • Caucus Meetings will be held from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in Hyatt Suite 2509.
  • General Session No. 1, 8-9:15 p.m. Speakers include Adam Urbanksi, president of the Rochester TA; United Teachers of New Orleans President Brenda Mitchell; Manuel Rivera, superintendent of Rochester schools.
  • If you are looking for a quick bite to eat during or after the convention, take a left on Main Street when exiting the convention center. You'll find a Subway sandwich shop, Vietnamese take-out restaurant and Atlanta Bread Co. (gourmet sandwiches) within a couple of blocks.
