RA to feature hit stage play 'Latina'

Posted: May 4, 2006

latina posterRA delegates are in for a real treat Friday when members of the United Federation of Teachers' Hispanic Affairs Comittee take to the stage to perform "Yo Soy Latina!"

The hit stage play accidentally unites six Latinas who, though dealing with different circumstances, find a common bond in growing up Latina.

The play is Friday from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. in the Empire Hall North in the Convention Center.

Jose Vargas, chair of the UFT Hispanic Affairs Committee, directs the play. Boxed lunches will be available for purchase at the event for $5 each.

The party continues Friday night when the RA celebrates Cinco de Mayo. Bring your dancing shoes and don your fiesta wear as we celebrate Mexico's victory in the Battle of Puebla. Save room for tasty treats - some spicy and some sweet.
