Convention raffle benefits NYSUT's hurricane relief efforts

Posted: May 4, 2006

It seems everyone has a story to tell about helping hurricane victims.

Chris Corlett, president of the Owego-Apalachin TA, bought raffle tickets and in addition pledged $1 for each of the 210 members of his Southern Tier local.

"It's amazing to see and hear what people went through and continue to go through," Corlett said.

Trudy Moses, president of the Scarsdale TA, brought her digital camera with photos of devastation at Mississippi schools.

Those two were among the hundreds of local presidents at the pre-RA Local and Retiree Council Presidents Conference who flocked to buy raffle tickets for NYSUT's hurricane relief effort.

Delegates will have plenty of chances to buy tickets, as well. The booth will be open Thursday before and briefly after General Session No 1.
