Benefits on display, celebrity sightings

Be sure to visit the NYSUT Benefits and Services on Display exhibits in the New York Hilton's Americas Hall I from noon to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, April 8.

Refreshments will be available on Thursday. As always, there will be plenty of goodies, giveaways and chances to win fabulous prizes donated by NYSUT Benefit Trust-endorsed vendors and the national affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers.

Celebrity sightings

There won't be any time for a huddle from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Unum-Provident booth. That's where Hall-of-Fame quarterback Jim Kelly will be meeting delegates. Kelly led the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs eight times and the Super Bowl four consecutive years. He was routinely among the league's leading passers. He led the NFL in passing in 1990 and the AFC in 1991, and his 101.2 passer rating in 1990 is still among the best single-season performances ever.

If you don't catch Kelly, visit America's most-loved dog, Snoopy, at the MetLife Auto&Home booth 12:30 - 7:30 p.m.

NYSUT displays

A wide array of booths will be staffed by NYSUT employees to highlight union programs and services. Also back for its second year will be the union's E-Store. This is how you can buy or order items with the union logo. Personal or school checks and money orders can be accepted but not credit cards. Large orders can be shipped home.

Door prizes

There are plenty of chances to win prizes donated by NYSUT Benefit Trust-endorsed vendors. Prizes range from a three-day Carnival cruise, cameras and bikes, to gift certificates and palm pilots. Entry forms must be deposited in the Door Prize Drawing Box by noon Friday, April 8. Winners will be scrolled on the big screens Saturday.
