In memory of Minnie

Charlett King, president of the Hempstead Teaching Assistants Association, speaks in favor of a Special Order of Business honoring her friend and longtime SRP leader Minnie Wheeler, who died suddenly in December.

"She is with me wherever I go," said King, who was one of many who spoke in an outpouring of respect for the beloved NYSUT activist.

Wheeler's husband, Bill, thanked delegates with heartfelt remarks, saying: "This is the first time you will see a Tuskegee Airman cry."
