Ken Kurzweil, Bedford TA president, speaks on a measure calling for NYSUT to continue denouncing the recent comments of U.S. Education Secretary Rod Paige, who called the National Education Association a 'terrorist organization' and accused the national union of being obstructionist. Delegates approved the special order.

Alice Conroy of the Farmingdale Federation of Teachers introduces a Special Order of Business urging NYSUT's Board of Directors to boost solidarity efforts. 'Let's go to Lockport ... to South Huntington ... wherever we are needed to go to get people what they truly deserve,' Conroy said. The special order passed.

clearyHelping disabled kids

Phil Cleary of the North Syracuse Education Association speaks in support of a Special Order of Business directing the union to pursue legislative reform to return to full state funding for the cost to maintain children with disabilities in residential facilities. The special order passed.
