New York State United Teachers will continue its tradition of honoring its members with an awards session Friday.

Awards recognize the contributions of: Lynn Gatto of the Rochester Teachers Association, state Teacher of the Year; Carol Odierno of the Sayville TA, School-Related Professionals Member of the Year; Louis Cammarosano of Harrison Association of Teachers and Abe Levine of the United Federation of Teachers, the Retiree Members of the Year; Lorraine Cohen of Professional Staff Congress and Rosemary Hennessy of United University Professions, the Higher Education Members of the Year; Joann Walsh of the United Federation of Teachers, Health Care Professionals Member of the Year; and Jane Conetta of the Patchogue-Medford Congress of Teachers and Carol Slotkin, Western Sullivan United Teachers and School-Related Personnel, recipients of the "Not For Ourselves Alone" Outstanding Leadership Award.

Delegates will also acknowledge the heroism of two educators at an upstate high school; the Life Line honor roll; members who received national board certification; and this year's recipients of Community Service awards and New York Teacher Journalism Contest winners.
