NYSUT members' efforts to help cut down on waste have earned the statewide union tens of thousands of dollars for school grants.

Staples, the officeware store, presented the statewide union with a check for more than $40,000 Friday. The company donated $1 for every used printer cartridge returned to Staples stores July through December of 2003.
