Governor appoints SUNY trustees

Sept. 21, 2006

Gov. Pataki has made five appointments to the State University of New York Board of Trustees. Each carries a seven-year term. It's likely that at least half of the 16-member board will consist of Pataki's appointments through the end of the first term of the next governor, according to The Voice, the magazine of United University Professions, representing faculty and professional staff at SUNY.

Incumbent Chairman Thomas Egan and trustee Edward Cox will serve new terms. Newly nominated and confirmed appointments are Kay Stafford of Plattsburgh, widow of state Sen. Ronald Stafford and CEO of a software and consulting firm, who will take the seat formerly held by her husband.

Also, Stephen Hunt of Katonah, president and CEO of the state Housing Finance Agency, who replaces Celine Paquette; and Gerri Warren-Merrick of Harlem, vice president of Global Public Policy for Time Warner Inc. Warren-Merrick replaces Patricia Stevens.
