Get the latest information on infection control

Nov. 17, 2005

New York State United Teachers' Education and Learning Trust has developed a new training program for health-care professionals that incorporates information on emerging communicable diseases, such as Avian flu, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

"Infection Control and Barrier Precautions Training" is designed for registered professional nurses, visiting nurses, licensed practical nurses and other health-care professionals who are required to complete an approved training program in infection control and barrier precautions every four years to renew their licenses. The training program meets the requirements of New Yorks health and education departments.

The workshop can be ordered by your local union president or employer, and can be brought directly to your location. Fees are very economical and the workshop is presented by highly qualified health-care professionals.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop include:

  • Principles and practices of infection control
  • Modes and mechanisms of transmission
  • Barriers and personal protective equipment
  • Management of infectious and communicable disease in health-care workers
  • Current information on emerging communicable diseases
