Neira stresses role of psychologists April 14, 2005 In urging the State Education Department to retain the current makeup of the Committee on Special Education, NYSUT Vice President Maria Neira stressed that school psychologists need to remain on the committee that develops and reviews the educational program for students with disabilities. "The school psychologist plays a critical role in interpreting the instructional implications of the student's individual evaluation, including the psychological assessment," Neira wrote. "School psychologists are also uniquely qualified to advise the other members of the committee on the implications of the social and emotional needs of the student," she added. |
