| UNION ACTION Save these dates to fight breast cancer 
June 2, 2004 New York State United Teachers will again be a statewide flagship sponsor in this fall's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks. Save the dates now to be part of the statewide event. The walk will be Oct. 17, except in Binghamton and Buffalo, where the date is Oct. 3. Last year, more than 5,000 NYSUT team walkers raised nearly $600,000 for the American Cancer Society's major fund-raiser. Walks are held at regional sites stretching from Long Island to Buffalo. "We're extremely proud so many of our members took part, either walking or donating money, for this important cause," said NYSUT First Vice President Antonia Cortese, who oversaw the union's ACS effort and joined a large union contingent in Albany. The money raised is used for ACS research, education, patient support and advocacy programs to defeat the disease. Watch New York Teacher and www.nysut.org for more details in upcoming months.
