Walking an extra mile for a
good cause October 22, 2003 OCTA co-presidents Nancy Durkin of East Syracuse Minoa United Teachers and Paul Farfaglia of Jordan Elbridge TA helped staff the information booth. The Onondaga County Teachers Association was a proud sponsor of the 5th annual Buddy Walk at Long Branch Park in Liverpool. The two-mile fun walk, which drew more than 1,500 participants, promotes the acceptance of individuals with Down Syndrome. In addition to walking in the fund-raiser, OCTA members distributed the Guide to Special Education, a booklet for families of children with disabilities prepared by NYSUT and the New York State PTA. |
