It's all about training March 26, 2003 In every survey the American Federation of Teachers has ever done on professional development, more than 80 percent of school staffers say they want training so they can do a better job and help improve education in their district. But how to get that training is another matter. New York State United Teachers and its national affiliate teamed up to help train members from five local unions on how to advocate for the professional development they need. The three-day training provided strategies on what professional development should look like, how it should be provided and who should receive it. "This is what we need from our districts," said Karen Arthmann of the Rush Henrietta Employees Association. |
