RELATED RESOURCES In observance of April 28's Workers' Memorial Day, unionists at New York State United Teachers' annual convention honored all fallen workers with an opening prayer paying tribute to victims and their families from the Sept. 11 World Trade Center collapses. "They gave their last breath, from janitors near the top to firefighters climbing from below," one line of the prayer reads. "For all victims' families, friends, co-workers, we pray the power of memory comforts and heals." The prayer was written and delivered by Brian O'Shaughnessy, director of the NYSUT-supported New York State Labor-Religion Coalition. |
