Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) OSHA information and regional offices for private sector NYSUT members The mission of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is to save lives, prevent injuries and protect the health of America's private sector workers. OSHA and its staff establish protective standards, enforce those standards, and reach out to employers and employees through technical assistance and consultation programs. Workplace inspections are one of OSHA's principal activities. To file an OSHA complaint, contact the area office nearest you. You can find all OSHA standards, interpretation letters and memos and answers to frequently asked questions at www.osha.gov. The web site also features fact sheets on hundreds of safety and health issues, and downloadable official OSHA publications.
