Ergonomics Ergonomic injuries plague hundreds of NYSUT members yearly. Fortunately, there are many valuable resources for workers who want more information about how to prevent injuries caused from poor job design, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, back injuries, and tendonitis. "Typing Injury FAQ", www.tifaq.org, provides a wide variety of information about repetitive strain injuries (RSI's), resources for dealing with these ailments, and a broad description of assistive products to reduce injury risk and symptoms.The primarily focus is on computer users at risk of injury. Many of the resources provided here also relate well to other work environments. CTD Resource Network, Inc., www.ctdrn.org, has extensive information about office environments. The ergonomics page on OSHA'S web site has lots of information, including solutions to ergonomic problems and resources for many different industries, including health care and education.
